Christmas Past

Christmas morning began cloudy and cold. But hey, at least we didn't have any of the white stuff to contend with!

We went to David's house for our traditional Christmas breakfast together. Yumm, he did a great job with scrambles eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy. It was a nice beginning to a great day - thanks David.

Morgan arrived around 11 am and then the fun began. After all Christmas is about kids, right? Anyway, we exchanged some gifts at David's and Morgan got into all her "Santa" gifts. It was fun watching her open her gifts, she gets so excited about each one. In the past she has let out some really ear piercing squeals and she was told in advance this year to be a little more quiet. It was really funny when she opened her package that had a new cell phone in it! She almost squealed but covered her mouth quickly! But she couldn't contain her excitement.

Dean, Suze & I left to go to Suze's so we could start dinner. David and Morgan came over a short while later and we began again - exchanging gifts. One that Morgan got from her Pop-pop was a box filled with cotton balls and slips of paper with "I Don't Know" typed on them. The reason for this was every time we asked Morgan what she wanted for Christmas she would answer "I Don't Know". Well he was determined that is what she would get. He did include one slip that was exchangeable for some cash. She liked that one. We got David a new grill and since it was to big to put under the tree, he had to go on a hunt for it. We had lots of fun and laughs doing presents at Suze's.

The rest of the day was laid back and relaxing for the most part. We didn't have a set time for dinner and just took our time getting it ready. How nice that was, no time schedule. I think it also made it taste better. Maybe because we were not so exhausted from rushing to get it done.

In the evening, Shannon and Brooke came over and we exchanged gifts with them. Shannon is David's friend and Brooke is her daughter. Brooke is a year older than Morgan and they get along really good. I posted a picture of them sitting beside each other texting. Yep, they were texting each other - LOL! One way for the adults not to know what they were saying...

So that wraps up our Christmas Day. It was a really nice day. The only thing that would have made it better is if more of the family could have been with us.

I pray that all my family and friends had as nice a Christmas as I did. It's one I won't forgot.

This will most likely be my last post this year so I'll say Happy New Year to all and hope to see a lot of you next year.

Changes Made To Blog

I have had to change the "comment" requirement on my blog because of some "idiot people" who were posting links to what were possibly spam links in the comment section of my blog. All comments will now have to be approved by me. I hate doing this as I feel it does infringe on your freedom of speech but it's the only way I know of to control this type of spamming. I did have it set for "letter verification" but apparently they have become much smarter and have found a way around it. Sorry.

Not much has been going on other than finishing up with doctor appointments and getting ready for Christmas. We did attend a Mark Lowery concert that was fabulous.

Oh yes, I am trying out a Verizon Air Card. I am beginning to think that I really like it. I know Dean will be happy if I decide to stay with it since it will mean not having to set up the monster dish! I'm still hesitant though because of being in areas where we don't recieve cell service... I still have half a month to test drive it.

We head out on Tuesday for Montgomery and Christmas there. Will return to Fairhope the Sunday after and then in January head to Florida for a couple of months.

I suspect that I'll have more to write about after the holidays!

Again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year....

Almost Done!

I know, it's been close to a month since I have been here - did you miss me :-)

We have been busy with many doctor appointments since we arrived. Seems like every couple of days we are at the medical center here in Fairhope which is where most of the doctors are located.

The only thing left (I hope) is our eye doctor and those appointment are not until Dec. 14/15. Then in January I have a GYN right before we depart for Florida.

So far the appointment have gone well, especially for Dean. All his labs were excellent, he has gained weight and is doing well except in the neurological area. I see changes in him almost daily. More forgetful than he used to be. He worked in electronics all his life and now has a hard time hooking up a TV! He gets very frustrated when it don't work. Other than that area, he is doing good.

Me on the other hand didn't have glowing reports. Besides getting chewed out for the weight gain, my A1C (sugar), cholesterol and other labs were elevated. Bad Me! I believe a lot of it was caused during the time that Dean was losing weight and not eating - I was constantly getting into food, trying to get him to eat. I did, he didn't!!! Long story short - I gained :-( Because of this I have a follow-up appointment for March/April time frame. Grrrr. I hate doctors! A evil necessity!

Christmas has also kept us busy. I feel like my second home this year has been Best Buy. Hmmm, hope I'm not giving anything away by saying that, but they sell lots of "stuff" so probably not. I'm almost done shopping and have a few to wrap.

We will be going to Montgomery for Christmas, spending about 6 days there. We will leave the motorhome parked here at Coastal Haven and stay at Suze's. There are plenty of snowbirds here to keep a eye on things that I'm not to worried. I did give it a second thought though after reading about friends Nick & Terry having their motorhome broke into and things taken.

The park here is still about half full. Not sure where everyone is this year - waiting till after Christmas I guess. The last run we made to Rainbow Plantation it was about the same, not very full. Makes me wonder where the snowbirds are....

I probably won't be posting again before Christmas, so I want to take this time to wish each and everyone who reads this a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May God richly bless you during this holiday season.
