London Bridge is falling down - Not!

We have had a busy week, sightseeing, getting taxes done, doing laundry, going to the casino etc. The taxes and laundry are subjects I'll not go into. I finally won a little at the casino today - that's so much fun - when you win!

We drove to Lake Havasu City, AZ earlier this week to get the oil changed in the truck and to visit London Bridge. It's fascinating that this bridge was brought over from London, England in pieces and put back together again, here in Lake Havasu City. Other than that bit of historical information, it was more or less a let down. Just looked like a bridge to me - nothing special. Maybe I missed something, but tourist trap are the words that I thought of. Of course I took pictures to share so here they are....

What I did find interesting were the two lighthouses we spotted as we drove around the island that the bridge connects to the city. I called them the lighthouses in the desert!

After our day in Lake Havasu City, we met Garry & Jenny and Ron & Betty at Havasu Springs for dinner. Good company, good food.

We've been trying to get to Parker Dam and finally made it today. I am amazed at how clear the water is - cold also!

The following information was borrowed from the web site for the Parker Dam.....

"Parker Dam is the deepest dam in the world; 73 percent of its structural height of 320 feet is below the original riverbed. Men and machines excavated 235 feet into the Colorado riverbed before concrete was placed for the dam's foundation. About 85 feet of the dam are visible. However, the dam's superstructure rises another 62 feet above the roadway across the top of the dam."

Some dam pictures.....

This view is from up river looking down..........

This is from down river looking up..... Notice the water level in the 1st picture?

You can see how clear the water is in this picture.....

Tonight we are going out with Garry & Jenny for a fried fish dinner - yummm, sounds good to us. On Sunday we leave our new friends and head for Laughlin, NV. From there we are planning on doing quite a bit of sightseeing, and probably some gaming. Come back when you can.....
