Memorial Day
Both of my children, Suze and David, came down for the long weekend. I don't think it was to see us, but to get their "beach fix" before we leave the area, but that's OK, we still enjoyed the visit.
On Saturday we went to the movies, something that Dean and I hadn't done for a long time. The new Indiana Jones movie is good and has all the buggy scenes that you would expect for a Indy movie, but, to me there was something lacking. Maybe it was the fact that it followed the same story line as the rest of the Indy movies. None the less, it was good and made for an enjoyable afternoon. When was the last time you went to the movies with your kids?
After church on Sunday the rest of the day was spent relaxing. Doing nothing is good sometimes.
Monday morning Suze, David and I went to the beach. It was a beautiful morning and there was no crowd when we arrived. After a short walk on the beach, I headed toward the car and some benches to sit. I've been having problems with my hip hurting after walking and the unevenness of the beach didn't help. I passed two guys who where setting up beach chairs with the umbrella's and thought that looked inviting, so rented two of them for two hours. Suze and David returned shortly after and Suze decided to join me in the other chair. David took off walking again and we lost sight of him. He was enjoying the sand, surf and solitude.
Leaving the beach, we decided we were hungry and Lulu's was near and one of our favorite places so that's where we headed.
Lulu's was very busy but we were able to get a waterfront table - lucky us! We had a great lunch of boiled shrimp, crab claws and onion rings. Ummm, it was sooooo good and we ate every last crumb. I have to admit that the Bloody Mary was great also!
You are probably wondering where Dean was during this time. He doesn't care for the beach, don't like the food at Lulu's, so we left him home - haha! No, not really, he had made an appointment to have the Jeep looked at and was at the dealership. Times in the auto business must be bad as they were open on Memorial Day for service.
Suze left for Montgomery on Monday afternoon and David waited until Tuesday. It was a very enjoyable weekend.
We have set our plans in motion and will be leaving Summerdale on June 2nd. Our final destination - Colorado. We decided that is where we really want to go this summer and we will stay in that area until October, when we will head to Albuquerque, NM for the Balloon Festival. That is one of the things that we've always thought we would enjoy and have heard that it is a awesome sight, so we'll see for ourselves.
This means that we won't be making the Class of '05 reunion and won't be going to PA. to see family this year and I'm sorry for that, but after looking at the mileage and the cost of fuel, we decided we need to conserve a little.
Time to dig the dusty camera out and re-learn how to use it.
Ya'll come back soon, ya hear!!
