Last Weekend in Montgomery

I know I've complained about being in Montgomery so long this winter, but there is light at the end of the tunnel now. If all goes well tomorrow with Dean and his dentist, we will be leaving here on Wednesday morning.

Our destination will be Beaver's Bend State Park, Broken Bow, OK. There we are meeting up with some of the Graduating Class of '05. I am really looking forward to seeing some old friends again. It seems like such a long time since we've been around any of our rv'ing friends! Sure do miss them all.

After a week or so at Beaver's Bend, our intention is to head to the Baton Rouge area to visit with our son Terry and his wife. If our son Tim is home from the oil ship, we will go to New Iberia first for a couple of days. This will depend on his schedule and ours. Then we will head to the Slidell area to visit with our granddaughter, Amber and her family, & my Aunt Sherrill and her family. Next we will make a stop in the Biloxi/Gulfport, MS area for a few days and visit with our daughter Krystal and her family. I think we will go over to Rainbow Plantation for a week or so and then come back to Montgomery.

We are coming back through Montgomery to pick up our granddaughter, Morgan to take her to PA with us. She is sooo looking forward to seeing Hershey, Lancaster and Gettysburg. She has been to PA twice but she was way to young to remember so it will be a brand new experience for her. I'm hoping to surprise her with another side trip while we are there, but can't say where to as she does read this blog and that would spoil the surprise! Her Daddy will be coming up to PA to get her and bring her back home. While he is there they are planning a horseback ride through the Gettysburg Battlefield. That should be fun for both of them. We are also planning on a family outing with relatives that live in the Chambersburg area so that she can re-meet them. It promises to be a busy three weeks. Sure hope I can make it through them - LOL. Keeping up with the energy of a 12 year old can be a challenge.

It is really hard to believe that our time in Montgomery is coming to a end. We will spend the next two days getting the motorhome ready for travel again. Gosh darn, when you sit in one place so long, things just don't get put back where they belong after you use them. Then we will need to re-acquaint ourselves with hitching the Jeep to the motorhome. Sure glad I have a cheat sheet to follow.

Today we are at Suze's house doing laundry, having dinner and visiting. David and Morgan will be here soon. This will end our "family Sunday's" for now. I do think I will miss them, it's been nice knowing that I would be able to sit and enjoy their company for a few hours each Sunday.

So there you have it..we are soon off to new adventures, so come on back and I promise something more exciting (I hope) in the future posts.

Achy Muscles

Gosh darn, do I ache this morning! Yesterday Suze and I took Morgan bowling. Shannon and her daughter, Brooke went along also. What a good time we all had. But, let me tell you, I haven't held a bowling ball in my hands for 30+ years and it's not like riding a bicycle!!! In my mind I thought, "I used to bowl and not bad so how hard could it be to do it again, right"? Wrong!

I thought I had been getting ready by doing the bowling on my daughters Wii. Well, unfortunately, the Wii remote does not weigh but a few ounces where the bowling ball I used was 11 pounds. I know, that's a light weight but when I picked up a fourteen and even the twelve pounder I though I would drop it on my toes. I do really good on the Wii and it had given me a lot of false confidence. I just knew that I would bowl in the mid to high 100's - wrong again.

The score boards....

Oops, Morgan threw a gutter ball...

I will say I was not alone and that in itself made me feel a little better. The end result was that all five of us had a good time, which was what we set out to do. All but one of us even had a strike or two - I'm not going to name names, but it wasn't me - I had three : )

Brooke & Morgan ....................Morgan, Shannon & Brooke

After the ladies bowled two games and the girls bowled four, we stopped by the arcade where they got on a dance machine and did very well. Then they got on a roller coaster ride that was like a run-a-way roller coaster. This was one of those "motion" rides and it sure did bounce them around, but they enjoyed it.

We left the bowling alley and went to Chappy's for lunch. The food was great when we finally got it, but the service left a lot to be desired. So much so that Suze talked to a manager before we left. She was very sorry about our receiving bad service and gave us two $10.00 gift cards. Guess that means we will go back again. It usually is very good, I guess they were having a bad day or new servers or something.

I forgot my camera, but Suze took hers, so I'll post a picture or two here when she sends them to me.

Our next girls day out will have to be something a little less strenuous - like maybe a massage, ohh I could use that right now! See ya later....

Water Leak, Beautiful Music & Dentists

Nothing much has happened since our big snow here in Montgomery a week ago Sunday. The following week the temperatures rebounded and we were in the 60's during the day and by the weekend in was in the 70's - nice.

Dean and I were going to go to American Village in Montevallo, AL on Thursday. We were getting in the Jeep when I noticed a big puddle of water under the motorhome and then saw a fast drip coming from one of the bays. Ohh, this didn't look good. Needless to say, our trip was cancelled. The leak was coming from a hot water connector that was located in the underneath portion of our kitchen side slide. Of course the bays were wet, uhh, more like soaked! Dean was able locate the problem and we called one of those "on site RV repair" people. He finally showed up around 3 pm and had it fixed in about 30 min. Thank goodness the leak was where it was and not inside the coach, could have been much worse. After two days of leaving the bay doors open and fans running, it dried up and we could put everything back. Another minor problem fixed.

Dean took advantage of the time we had during our "crisis" to make a door for the hole where the old TV had been in the bedroom. We had purchased a HD flat screen and I wanted it mounted on the outside of a door so that I would have a new storage closet. He did a good job except he bought a gold color piano hinge instead of silver. I didn't notice it until he was all done, so at some point he will have to take it down and replace it with a silver one - gotta keep things matching you know! He had also build a bookcase for me for under the slide window behind the driver so when he varnished the door he finally got it varnished or maybe it was shellacked (not sure about the spelling but you know what I mean).

This past Saturday evening we went with Suze to her church for a performance of the Children's Honor Choir.

The Alabama Baptist All-State Children's Honor Choir was formed in 2000 to offer music opportunities to fourth through sixth grade boys and girls who are involved in choirs from churches across the Alabama Baptist Convention. Each year 150-175 children are accepted through auditions to be a part of this unique group. They have performed in churches all across Alabama as well as other churches in the South. This year was a special 10-year reunion concert. They where joined by alumni members for the performance.

The performance was exceptional, spirit filled and uplifting. You could tell that the children really wanted to be there singing. This year's choir did several songs themselves in two part harmony and then where joined by the alumni members for several other songs. My favorite song that they performed was Praise You. It just sent chills through you as you listened and watched them perform using sign language. A very enjoyable evening indeed.

Picture of the choir - the ones in the light shirts are this years choir and the ones in the dark shirts are the alumni. You can't see all the alumni in the picture but there were about 100 of them.

Today was Dean's dentist day. We are now back home and he is feeling OK. His new teeth look great, but of course there are adjustments that will have to be made once his gums heal completely. I'm surprised by the fact that he hasn't gone to bed. He says he's just as comfortable sitting in his recliner napping. Of course he is on a liquid diet for a couple of days, so I'll run out and get something to eat so I don't have to eat in front of him. Today I'll do it after I go to Curves this afternoon. He said he doesn't have much discomfort yet and that the feeling in his face is starting to come back. We have pain pills for him to take if needed and he's on antibiotics for a week. From here on hopefully everyday will just get better.

Guess that about brings me up to date for now. We are still planning on leaving here on April 1st - no foolin! We will stop in Jackson, MS and get the oil changed in the coach and genny. Then we will be heading for Beaver Bend State Park, OK to meet up with Wes & Jan, Tom & Dianna, and Gary & Jo. Not sure who else. We are really looking forward to this gathering. It's been soooo long since we've been with friends.

Take care & safe driving till next time......

Severe Storms, Tornado's and Snow?

In the past 24 hours we've had quite a variety of weather. Yesterday it was thunder storms, hail, lots of rain and tornado warnings for our area. Fortunately we didn't have any touch down near us. Then, yesterday afternoon, the sun came out and the temperature was almost 70 degrees - nice!

This morning I woke up at 6:30 am and it was 35 degrees and snowing up a storm. It was so pretty and had begun to lay on the ground and vehicles. It's now 8 am and even though it is still snowing, it is beginning to melt off the ground and cars.

Just to weird - and this is global warming - NOT!!!

I've posted some pictures at

Enjoy!
