Memorial Day

Both of my children, Suze and David, came down for the long weekend. I don't think it was to see us, but to get their "beach fix" before we leave the area, but that's OK, we still enjoyed the visit.

On Saturday we went to the movies, something that Dean and I hadn't done for a long time. The new Indiana Jones movie is good and has all the buggy scenes that you would expect for a Indy movie, but, to me there was something lacking. Maybe it was the fact that it followed the same story line as the rest of the Indy movies. None the less, it was good and made for an enjoyable afternoon. When was the last time you went to the movies with your kids?

After church on Sunday the rest of the day was spent relaxing. Doing nothing is good sometimes.

Monday morning Suze, David and I went to the beach. It was a beautiful morning and there was no crowd when we arrived. After a short walk on the beach, I headed toward the car and some benches to sit. I've been having problems with my hip hurting after walking and the unevenness of the beach didn't help. I passed two guys who where setting up beach chairs with the umbrella's and thought that looked inviting, so rented two of them for two hours. Suze and David returned shortly after and Suze decided to join me in the other chair. David took off walking again and we lost sight of him. He was enjoying the sand, surf and solitude.

Leaving the beach, we decided we were hungry and Lulu's was near and one of our favorite places so that's where we headed.

Lulu's was very busy but we were able to get a waterfront table - lucky us! We had a great lunch of boiled shrimp, crab claws and onion rings. Ummm, it was sooooo good and we ate every last crumb. I have to admit that the Bloody Mary was great also!

You are probably wondering where Dean was during this time. He doesn't care for the beach, don't like the food at Lulu's, so we left him home - haha! No, not really, he had made an appointment to have the Jeep looked at and was at the dealership. Times in the auto business must be bad as they were open on Memorial Day for service.

Suze left for Montgomery on Monday afternoon and David waited until Tuesday. It was a very enjoyable weekend.

We have set our plans in motion and will be leaving Summerdale on June 2nd. Our final destination - Colorado. We decided that is where we really want to go this summer and we will stay in that area until October, when we will head to Albuquerque, NM for the Balloon Festival. That is one of the things that we've always thought we would enjoy and have heard that it is a awesome sight, so we'll see for ourselves.

This means that we won't be making the Class of '05 reunion and won't be going to PA. to see family this year and I'm sorry for that, but after looking at the mileage and the cost of fuel, we decided we need to conserve a little.

Time to dig the dusty camera out and re-learn how to use it.

Ya'll come back soon, ya hear!!

Getting Road Ready

This coming Monday, it will be one week that we have been at Carpenters Campers in Pensacola, FL. getting the coach road ready. We had a list (pretty long) of small items that we wanted checked out, repaired, modified etc. The technician started Tuesday morning and finished with us on Wednesday except for the heat pump in the front air conditioner. Seems that the "reverse valve" was not working and that was the reason the heat pump quit. We've had great a/c from the unit. On Thursday, they had an a/c specialist come out to give an estimate of repair. The estimate came to just over $600. The work only had a 30 day guarantee. We asked about the cost of a replacement unit. We were quoted around $1100. After some discussion, Dean and I both agreed that we should go ahead and do the replacement. It will come with a 3 year warranty.

On Friday, the unit came in, but it was to late for them to start the installation, so it will be done on Monday. After that is finished, we will head back to Rainbow Plantation until June 6th.

Montgomery, AL. will be our first stop for a week. There is several things that we need to do while there - stock up on meds from the base for one.

A week later we will head to Wiggins, MS. for a reunion with all 4 of Dean's kids w/families. A big picnic is planned for Saturday at Flint Creek Water Park. We will be camping there until the following Monday. I hope by then we have an idea of where we are heading - as of now we are not sure!

We both want to go to Colorado for the summer. I also feel like I would like to go back to PA. to see my family - it's been 2 years and none of us are getting any younger! Then there is a cousin in Arkansas that I haven't seen in 5 years. On top of this, we would really like to catch up with some of our fulltiming friends somewhere. It's been a long while since we seen most of them, even though we do keep in touch. Anyway, we'll see.

Thank you to all for the emails, cards and phone calls after my Dad's passing. It means so much to know that you have family and friends that care. We will be doing what my Dad's wishes for us were - getting back on the road and having a good time for as long as the good Lord allows.

Hope to see you soon......
