Percy Priest State Park, Nashville, TN.

Yesterday we decided to take a drive to Percy Priest State Park near Nashville for something to do. It was only about a 15 mile drive but a pleasant one. Traffic wasn't bad till we got near the lake then it got pretty congested but kept moving. This is a very big lake and I would suppose it's part of the water supply for Nashville. The level seemed to be good - no dry areas that we could see.

There are 3 or 4 public areas that have boat launches, picnic tables and swimming but they were all full and we couldn't get down to those. We did make it down to one area with lots and lots of sail boats, all tied up at the dock. We were surprised that there wasn't very much boat traffic on the lake since it was July 4th.

We then drove to Elm Hill Marina, a commercial area, and had a drink and bite to eat at the Cove Restaurant. Very nice floating restaurant with outdoor seating. Dean really enjoyed the scenery there - you will have to go to Picasa and look at the pictures to see what I'm talking about.

Next we drove to the dam but unfortunately the visitor information area was closed. I was hoping to get some info on the dam and lake. Oh well, maybe next time.

I've posted pictures of the dam and lake area at Picasa so if your inclined, take a look.

We stopped for dinner and came back to the motel. I'm really getting tired of the motel life! I'm ready to get my motorhome back! Hopefully by mid week - fingers crossed.

Today we drove to Cold Springs which is south of Nashville off I-65 to the mall. Had lunch at Bishop's meat & 3. Very, very good food. Highly recommend it if you are ever in the area. Then we went to JC Penny's looking for some shoes, but they didn't have what I was looking for. Did get three pair of capri's for half price so not a total waste.

A quick stop at Wal-Mart to get some cash and we were on our way back to the motel.

Tomorrow we are driving back in the same direction to Fairview to visit our friend Jackie Burkett. It's been over a year since we've seen her so will have some catching up to do. I know it will be a nice visit.

That's about all. Hopefully the next time I post it will be from my recliner in the bus. Till then, safe travels....

Priest Lake is where we stay on the way to the lake. We were there just a few weeks ago. We stay at the Seven Points Campground. It is a lovely lake.
