Menominee, Michigan

Arriving at Summer Breeze campground on Monday we had a big surprise. The motorhome that was checking in right in front of us looked very familiar, well want was written across the back was. "Breakin Wind". I told Dean "we know them". It was Jean and Willard Bass from the Class of '05. How cool was that! We haven't seen them since 2006 when we were in AZ.

Their friends from AZ, Lilia and Steve were here as well and that afternoon we had a "happy hour" catching up and just chatting. It was so nice to see them again. Isn't this life grand! It was a great reunion and nice to meet new friends.

Tuesday we decided to take a drive. I want to see as many lighthouses that I can while we are in Michigan and had my first one as today's goal. It is located in Menominee, MI which faces Green Bay (the water). We didn't realize how long a drive it was there but I guess it really didn't matter because it was a nice day except for cloud cover. We found the lighthouse, drove around town, had lunch and started back home with a stop at Island Casino to make a small donation. It ended up being a 187 miles round trip! Oh well, it was fun.

We came home to some sprinkles and later on severe thunderstorms with tornado warnings. We had a lot of rain but the worst of the storm went south-east of us. As a matter of fact, I read that a tornado touched down in Norway which is that direction from us about 10 miles. To close!

Today is relax day. I was up early and saw Jean and Willard drive off at 6:30am - way to early for me. Not sure where they were heading but hope that they had a safe trip.

I have uploaded a few pictures at Picasa - hope you enjoy them.

Tomorrow we are off on another sightseeing tour. Come on back to see where we went...

Till then, Safe Travels......
