Day One Behind Us

We left Montgomery this morning on schedule at 8:30 and are now parked at Carolina Landing in Fair Play, SC for the night. Wifi isn't good so no pictures.

It was a uneventful trip, the best kind. Morgan did well but made a face when I told her tomorrow would be about 40 miles longer than today. She will survive! She thought it was awesome riding in the passenger seat, being able to see so much through the big windshield. She was surprised at the size of the Atlanta airport that she will be flying into in three weeks!

Traffic through Atlanta wasn't to bad until we got on the North side of town then it got very heavy and stayed that way until we pulled off. I guess I-85 is becoming another I-95 traffic wise.

Tomorrow we will stop somewhere in VA tomorrow evening then on Tues. night will again stop in Northern VA. Wed. we get to Lebanon, PA and Hershey 1000 Trails Park.

OK, so you have the report for today. Morgan says hi to all who know her.

Till later....

Moving Day Tomorrow

Well, I think that everything is fixed and ready to go. The refrig. is running and the ice maker has made one dump of ice and appears to be working OK. I'm so ready to get out of Montgomery again! Seems like we picked "Murphy" up at the city limits and he just wanted to hang with us. I put my foot down this morning and when the service technician left I told him "take him with you and lock him in another RV on your lot". He laughed and said OK, so hopefully we are done with him for awhile.

In about a hour my granddaughter will be arriving to get settled in for three weeks. I only hope we can keep her busy enough, so that she doesn't get bored. Keeping up with her will be a real challenge because my right leg has been giving me some problems and when it comes to walking long distances, well, forget it! I can as long as I can take a break. My only concern is the surprise we have in store for her next Saturday. There will be a lot of walking involved and I'll do it if it means taking a bottle of Tylenol - LOL. Can't say what it is because she might see this. I know it's something that will make her very excited when she finds out.

We will be going as far as Fair Play, SC tomorrow, staying at a 1000 Trails Park overnight. After that we may Wal-Mart it for two nights. We will be staying at another 1000 Trails Park in Hershey, PA until a week from this coming Saturday.

I probably won't be posting again until after we arrive in PA. So, safe travels my friends and see ya down the road!

UPDATE: Morgan is all settled in and sleeping on the sofa/bed as I type this. We will be leaving in about two hours. Her Daddy and her had a semi-tearful farewell last evening as I'm sure she did with her Mom. But, she is so excited about the trip. Funny, I hadn't noticed till last evening how much she is really growing up. She just turned 12 and is quite the young lady, but I guess us grandparents want to keep they small forever! I foresee a memorable trip ahead and one that I hope will create memories for her that she will remember long after Dean and I are gone.

Murphy - Go Away!!!

We have had a unwelcome visitor with us the past couple of weeks and his name is Murphy. You all probably know him well as he likes to show up and visit at the worst times. I thought that I had left him at a Country Coach parked at Alabama Motorcoach, Inc., here in Montgomery, last week. We had a couple of items repaired along with replacing two front tires and figured it was time for Murphy to move on. Wrong, he wasn't done with us yet.

Sunday, after enjoying a good home cooked meal the tell tale sign appeared, one of three odors you don't want to smell in a RV - ammonia!!! Yep, our Norcold was attacked by Murphy and he won.

It was a slow leak so we were privileged to have the ammonia odor present for two days. Of course Monday was a holiday (doesn't it always happen over a weekend or holiday?) so that meant waiting till this morning to contact Alabama Motorcoach about our unwelcome visitor.

I was at the service counter at 7:30 am this morning and Billy, the service manager is working on it as we speak. I provided him all the information he needed, so now we wait for a new cooling unit. With any luck it will come in tomorrow and be repaired on Thursday. Thank goodness for Good Sam CSP - it should save us some $$.

When we leave from getting it repaired, this time I'm going to make sure that Murphy stays behind - I'll do what ever it takes - LOL.

And life goes on.......

Family Time

On Saturday, Suze drove down from Montgomery to attend a party/baby shower at Shane (my nephew) and Stephanie's house. It was mostly family with a few of their friends. I wondered how awkward it would be since Shane's mother (my sister) and his dad and stepmother where going to be in attendance. There hasn't been a good relationship there if you get my drift! Fortunately, everyone was cordial and even friendly. Thank goodness because I'm one that is really sick and tired of drama! People just need to let the past in the past and move on.

Anyway, we had a pleasant afternoon visiting with Shane, Stephanie, Judi, Shannon (my neice), Brad (my nephew-in-law), Keith (the ex) and Lynn (the stepmom). Stephanie's mother was there along with her friend and a couple of Shane's friends. We had a good meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, beans, stuffed eggs, chips and dips. Keith and Lynn brought a couple of bottles of a delicious wine - Moscato D'Asti by Bevlamo. It was the best Asti wine that I've ever had. I really need to get me a bottle of it so when I'm stressed, I can relax!!

Stephanie received several nice baby gifts to add to the collection that she had from previous baby showers. She is due anytime within the next two weeks and even though she is very pregnant, she doesn't even look it from behind, it's all up front!

Here's a couple of pictures of the parents to be....

Waiting for Hayleigh Marie Hughes to make her appearance.....

There are more pictures on my Picasa web site.

Yesterday we went to church at Marlow UMC - we actually moved our church membership there yesterday. It is a small country church located very close to Rainbow Plantation with some of the friendliest people - maybe because half the congregation is made up of RV'ers or ex-RV'ers from the Plantation and the other half just nice folk!

It started raining right after church so the rest of the day was spent being lazy including some zzzz's for Dean.

Today we are packing up, hitching the toad and heading up I-65 to Montgomery for two weeks where we will prepare for our trip north to Pennsylvania with our granddaughter Morgan. I understand that she is excited, as are we, to be having this time with our granddaughter.

It will be a busy two weeks filled with dentist appointments for Dean, hair appointments for me, repair appointments for the motorhome (we need a new tail light assembly and a slide coil and didn't have time to get it done at Carpenters in Pensacola), getting Morgan's "things" packed somewhere?? - I'll make room and enjoying time with Suze and David since we won't be back until November.

So - See ya down the road......

Just Another Week Gone By

ADDED ON MAY 11th - One thing that I forgot to tell you about when I posted this blog is that our friends, Emily & Jim are taking a month trip to Greece. Emily is the travel agent that I sold my agency to when we decided to go full time. Anyway, she is going to keep a blog on their travels along with pictures so if you are interested in that area of the world, here is her blog address - http://travelwithemjim.blogspot.com Save it to your favorites and follow along with them on their journey to Greece!

There isn't much to report from here. Yesterday was a quiet day - church in the morning and phone calls from all the kids wishing me a Happy Mothers Day. It was a good day to catch up on the laundry. Dean did most of it for me since it was Mothers Day, how sweet of him!

This past week was spent doing doctor appointments, making an appointment for the motorhome at Carpenters to have a few things done along with the genny oil changed, visiting my sister and niece and doing some shopping.

We have noticed in our drives around the county that the pecan trees are full of leaves now, the sod fields are very green, the first crop of hay has been bailed and the corn is about waist high. To bad it won't be ready before we leave here as the Silver King or Silver Queen corn that is grown here is some of the best corn on the cob you can sink your teeth into. Every time I look at a corn field I can visualize some hot corn on the cob, salted, peppered and dripping in butter - yummmy good eating! Hopefully we will find a good substitute when we get to PA in June.

This week won't be very exciting. We will be doing a follow-up appointment with the doctor for Dean, getting him to his favorite barbershop in Summerdale, making final disposition on my fathers estate, making one last visit to the outlet stores in Foley, and getting ready to move to Montgomery one week from today.

We did have a surprise visit on Saturday from my cousin Tim and his wife Neanie along with one of their grandbabies. It had been quite a long time since I've seen them and they both look good. I say that because they both had gastric bypass surgery done and have lost a lot of weight. It was fun catching up on their lives and hearing about their kids and grandkids.

I can tell that it is time to be heading north since the daytime temperatures are beginning to get into the high 80's low 90's and night time is only into the 70's. Sure hope it will be cooler in PA when we get there the beginning of June.

Thanks for stopping by and hopefully soon I will have something more exciting to talk about. Till next time............

Update

Maybe you've heard the news about the flooding in Montgomery, AL today. I don't know how much coverage it is getting on national news. I figured I would come post that we are not in Montgomery yet. We are in Baldwin County in Fairhope. All the rain has stayed north of us and from what I'm hearing, most of it dumped today in Montgomery. I've talked to both of my kids that live there and they are fine and have no flood damage. Unfortunately, others in town have not faired so well. The local TV station WSFA has thousands of pictures of the flood posted on their web site, sent in from people in the area.

We are due to head to Montgomery the 18th of this month. Now I'm wondering how the campground that we use is. I know in a normal rain, it puddles, but this was no ordinary rain! I think I'll call them tomorrow.

I will pass along some good news that Dean and I got yesterday from the Neurologist. He does NOT have Parkinsons. He was diagnosed with tremors. He offered some meds, but said that they are a double edge sword type of drug meaning that the side effects may outweigh the good. He left it up to Dean if he wanted them or not - he said no. The doctor concurred, stating that as long as the tremors do not pose any "danger" to himself or others.

We are enjoying our time in Baldwin County but will be glad to head north to hopefully cooler weather the beginning of June. Maybe at least a little less humidity. Last week our friends Byron and Linda Landry did a overnight at Rainbow Plantation. We got together with them in the afternoon and went to Fish River Cafe for a great meal that included "Swamp Soup". It was really great seeing them again. They are going to New England and Nova Scotia this year and as much as I would have loved to go with them, our plans are made for the summer, so we bid our farewells with promises of getting together again soon. Hopefully in the fall to talk about our summer.

Well, I was going to keep this short so I'll close with the prayer that all who suffered loss in Montgomery will come out better than before the flood happened! Till next time.....
